Bovada Casino Review

Bovada is worth it for a US player in an accepted state who wants the casino and sportsbook on one account, with fast crypto payouts. There's no catch with the free offer because there isn't one: Bovada doesn't give a no deposit bonus. If you sign up anyway, use crypto, since card deposits after the first carry a heavy fee.

Key facts
Free offerNone, Bovada doesn't offer a no deposit bonus
Welcome bonusCrypto 125% up to $1,250 three times ($3,750); cards $3,000
Restricted states19 states plus Washington, DC, listed in full in the review
Payouts24 to 48 hours review, then under an hour for most crypto
Minimum withdrawalBitcoin $75, check $250, bank wire $1,500
LicenceClaims Comoros and Western Sahara, no number; no US state licence

Check your state first. Bovada is the best-known offshore casino in the US, and over the past three years it has pulled out of state after state as regulators sent cease-and-desist letters. Its terms now refuse players from 19 states plus Washington, DC. If you live in one of them, nothing else in this review applies to you.

Not accepted: Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Vermont, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.

The list is still growing. Washington State, Mississippi and Florida have all taken action against Bovada without yet appearing on it. When Tennessee pushed between late 2024 and mid-2025, with three orders and $50,000 in fines, Bovada closed Tennessee accounts and told players to withdraw what they had. If your state is moving the same way, keep your balance low.

Why Bovada is on a no deposit site with no free chip

Bovada doesn't offer a no deposit bonus, and the panel beside this review shows $0 for that reason. It's on our list because a lot of US players start here anyway, for the brand and for the sportsbook. If a free chip is what you came for, the other casinos on our list are a better place to start.

The welcome bonus is really three bonuses

Pay with crypto and the welcome package is worth up to $3,750: 125% up to $1,250 on each of your first three deposits. Code BTCCWB1250 covers the first, which plays at 25x. Code BTC2NDCWB covers the second and third, and those jump to 50x. Card players get 100% up to $1,000 three times, $3,000 in all, starting with CAWELCOME100.

Wagering is on the deposit plus the bonus, and only play after you redeem the code counts. Live dealer games can't be played with bonus money and don't count toward the wagering, and neither does craps. Blackjack counts 10% at best, and several versions count 2% or nothing. Bovada's general terms also set a default cashout cap on bonuses when an offer doesn't state its own, so ask support whether one applies to the welcome package before you claim it. One long-time player on Trustpilot gives four stars and still advises skipping deposit bonuses altogether. It's not bad advice for anyone who mostly plays table games.

From Bodog to Bovada

Bovada launched in December 2011, the same month Bodog's US sites shut down on December 14, and took over their American customers. It was started by Morris Mohawk Gaming Group in Kahnawake. Bodog's founder, Calvin Ayre, was indicted in Maryland a few months later and pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor in 2017. That same year Bovada changed hands, and outside sources have named Harp Media B.V. of Curacao as the operator since then. Bovada's own pages don't name a company.

Its licence statement is unusual too. The footer says Bovada is "licensed and regulated by the Union of the Comoros and the Central Reserve Authority of Western Sahara", with no licence number. Compare that to its sister site Slots.lv, which prints a Curacao licence number you can look up. Bovada holds no US state licence, which is why those letters keep coming.

More than a casino

The casino is only one part of Bovada. One account gets you a sportsbook, a racebook and a poker room, the poker room reportedly shared with Ignition. The casino lobby is large, though Bovada's own figures disagree with each other: "over 1,000" slots in one place and "over 470" in another. LCB counted 731. The site doesn't name its game studios.

What you'll find: 48 table games, 17 blackjack variants, Hot Drop Jackpots that pay hourly and daily, and a set of in-house "Bovada Originals" crash and mines games. The live casino is large. A July 2026 count found about 47 live blackjack tables plus VIP tables, 19 roulette and 15 baccarat, along with game shows.

Banking for US players

WhatDetails
DepositsVisa and Mastercard ($20 to $1,500); Player Transfer; MatchPay; gift cards and vouchers; Bitcoin, Lightning, Bitcoin Cash, Bitcoin SV, Litecoin, Ethereum and Tether
Card deposit feesFirst card deposit free. After that, Bovada's help page says 15.9% or higher in the text and 5.9% in its summary. Either way, use crypto
WithdrawalsCrypto, MatchPay, voucher, Player Transfer, check by courier ($250 minimum, once a week) and bank wire ($1,500 minimum, once a month)
Crypto limitsBitcoin $75 minimum, $9,500 per request, $90,000 a week; Litecoin $180,000 a week; Lightning $25,000 a day; Ethereum and Tether $2,500 a week
FeesNone on crypto, voucher or Player Transfer withdrawals. Check and wire fees aren't stated
Timing24 to 48 hours to review, then under an hour for most crypto and up to 24 hours for Bitcoin

That card fee alone is a good reason to use crypto here. Card users tend to find out about one step too late: every card you've ever deposited with needs a signed Credit Card Verification Form before any withdrawal can go out, even a Bitcoin one. File it before you need the money. Accounts that sit idle for 18 months are zeroed, with a warning email at 17 months.

Reputation, and April 2025

With 2,805 Trustpilot reviews, Bovada has more public feedback than any other casino on our list, and it averages 3.7. The reviews are split, 52% one-star and 38% five-star, and some of the positive reviews come from players who say they've been there six to twenty years. LCB members rate it 3.9 from 844 votes, among the highest scores in this group.

The worst recent episode was in April 2025. From April 19, players reported crypto withdrawals frozen, the withdrawal button missing and accounts disabled during what Bovada called an IT disruption. Bovada said it was fixed, but complaints kept coming for a while afterward. LCB comments also mention more glitches and scripted-sounding support since a platform upgrade in September 2025. The current contact page offers an email form and links out to Bovada's community channels, with no live chat or phone listed.

Rewards

Bovada Rewards is based on lifetime points, so your level never drops. There are six tiers from Starter to Hall of Fame, and redemption improves from 2,500 points per dollar to 1,000. Sports bets earn points too, with parlays and teasers earning far more than straight bets. Referring a friend is worth up to $475, with the poker part paid out gradually as they play.

Should you sign up?

If your state isn't on the list and you want your casino and sportsbook under one login, with fast and large crypto payouts, Bovada is still the default choice for a reason. Just go in knowing three things: there's no free chip, card deposits after the first carry a heavy fee, and the state list keeps getting longer.
